6 prominent Indian-Americans named Joe Biden-Bernie Sanders Unity Task Force

A diverse group of leaders and experts have been named the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Forces.

Six prominent Indian-Americans from different regions have been named to the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Forces announced by former Vice President Joe Biden, the presidential candidate of the opposition Democratic Party.

Seattle Congress chief Pramila Jaipal and former surgeon general Vivek Murthy have been named co-chairs of the Health Care Task Force. The unity task force is the result of Senator Bernie Sanders’ support of the Biden campaign.

Varshini Prakash, a 26-year-old climate change activist from Boston, is the youngest member of the In Task Force, along with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, 30, and environmental justice attorney Katherine Flowers, 58.

The executive director of the Sunrise Movement, a leading organization focused on climate change among young people, will work on the light climate change group. Former Secretary of State John Kerry is the co-chairman of this task force.

Legal Liminary Chirag Bains has been named co-chairman of the Criminal Justice Reform Task Force. Former acting Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta, according to a statement released by the Biden campaign.

Eminent Indian-American economist and former lobbyist Sonal Shah has been named as the Economic Task Force. “Honored for serving in unity work forces. Look forward to winning in November!” he said.

Biden, 77, is the Democratic Party presidential candidate. He is scheduled to be formally nominated by the Democratic National Convention in Wisconsin in August. Once nominated, Biden will vote for the White House against 73-year-old Donald Trump, the president who is seeking re-election in the November 3 election.

Biden and Sanders have named a diverse group of respected leaders and experts to explore possible policy initiatives for the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Forces covering six areas: climate change, criminal justice reform, economy, education, Health care and immigration, a media statement stated.

The task force will meet in advance of the Democratic National Convention to make recommendations to the DNC Platform Committee and deliver directly to Biden, it said.

He said that the creation of the work of Democratic campaigns, the ultimate goal of unity task forces, is to develop the most successful possible agenda for Democrats in 2020.

In a blog post, Prakash attributed the name of the Climate Crisis Task Force to Senator Sanders.

“I am grateful to Bernie Sanders that I believe, I trust his political leadership, and believe that this is an opportunity for our movement to advance our fight for a Green New Deal.”

“Our nomination on this task force is trying to take Joe Biden and his campaign seriously, if we want to defeat Trump this November, the importance of youth and people within the party,” said Prakash.

He said, “We cannot give Donald Trump four years, and I believe our movement has the potential to win the Green New Deal under President Biden.”

Meanwhile, according to a new Fox News poll in the presidential race, former Vice President Biden gave President Trump eight percentage points.

Republican-leaning Fox News found in its latest presidential election poll that in the 2020 ballot test, Biden leads Trump by 48–40 percent.

“Biden’s eight-point advantage is outside the poll’s margin of error. However, given that 11 percent are undecided or are planning to vote for someone else, neither candidate supports 50 percent. The race will be held at any time. Can go way, ”Fox concluded.

According to the poll, among voters who are highly motivated to vote this fall, Biden has a 12-point advantage (53–41 percent). More Biden supporters (69 percent) feel highly motivated to vote than Trump supporters (63 percent).
