Lockdown recipe: How to make a desi-style frittet for a quick and tasty breakfast

Adding to the list, here we are bringing you an easy frittata recipe with a twist of desi flavors.

For Unversa, frittata is an egg-based Italian dish, usually eaten for breakfast. It is similar to omelettes, filled with veggies, meat, cheese and cream. The best thing about frittata is that it can be customized to your wishes; With eggs, you can add virtually anything you want. Keeping this in mind, we made it a little ‘desi’ to add that ‘ghar ka swad’ to the dish.

Here is the recipe for Desi-style frittet:


Egg – 4

Potato – 1 cup (small cup)

Onion – 1 cup (small cup)

Carrot – 1 cup (small cubes)

Capsicum – 1 cup (small cubes)

Cauliflower – 1 cup (small cubes)

Coriander – 2 tablespoons (freshly chopped)

Boiled Sprouted Cereals – Half a Cup

Green chili – 2 (chopped)

Ginger – 2 tsp (grated)

Roasted Cumin Powder – 1 teaspoon

Roasted red chili powder – 1 teaspoon

Paneer – half cup (grated)

Oil for frying

salt to taste


Heat a pan and add some oil to it.

Add potatoes, cabbage, onions, carrots and capsicum and fry well.

Add ginger, green chilli and salt and fry it. Add boiled sprouts after a while.

Set the wedges like a base on the pan.

Now whisk the eggs well and put them in the pan.

Reduce the heat and add a little water to the sides of the pan with a spoon. Now close the lid for a while.

After a minute or two, open the lid of the pan and add cumin and chili powder and salt (if necessary).

Spread some cheese and close the lid again for 30 seconds so that the cheese melts slightly.

Serve it on a plate and cut it like pieces of pizza and enjoy.
